LOVE. LOSS. EMPOWERMENT.
ABOUT
About The Music
On her new LP, Fighting With Me And You, Texas chanteuse Graciela Serena delivers a collection of songs that feels at once fresh and eminently familiar. Balancing anthemic rock production with juicy pop songwriting, the record is underpinned by echoes of languid sensual blues. With a timeless voice that bellies her youth, Serena's aching vocals telegraph emotion effortlessly, breathing life into her tales of striving-and success.
Written in Austin, Texas and recorded with Michael Hynes (John Medeski, Wilco) Fighting With Me And You is an eloquent compelling listen from a rising artist. Graciela Serena has gifted us a palpable sense of pain, hope, compassion, and a whole lot of tough love. "We are life, We are living and the fact that we lose that grounding mantra is heartbreaking " says Serena. Keep fighting for the ones you love, for what you believe in, and above all for yourself. It's okay to not be okay. Sit in the shadows if you need to but don't stay there. You can bring yourself back to the light.
About Graciela Serena
Graciela Serena is an American singer-songwriter who, through her rich, soaring vocals creates deep connections to our human vulnerability, strength, and our darkness and light. Then, she tops that with the delivery of deeply dismantling lyrics and melodies, that are all at once sweet, demure, sexy and badass. She continues to surprise, delight, and palpably disturb her followers with songs that follow her journey with relationships, muses that won't sleep, innocence lost (and found) , and the freshness of youth with old soul wisdom. Her deep send of wanderlust for all things unseeable, spiritual, and visceral just adds another layer.
EARLY LIFE: Graciela Serena was born on Oct 4, 1996, in Baltimore, MD but lived most of her life in Austin, TX. The only child of divorced parents, Graciela found solace and company in music. She took piano lessons at age 5 and started playing guitar and writing songs when she was 10yrs old. At age 12, Graciela started her own band, The Clever Idiots, of all originals.
MUSIC CAREER: By the time she was 15, Graciela had written hundreds of songs, and started recording and promoting herself with songs like, Muse, How Much I Love You, SkitSkat 2.0 and Bad News. At age 18, she decided that it was time to make her first album, Reset Road. The album was riddled (and troubled) with young romance, it's joy and struggles, and shadowed with hints of past trauma.
During the recording of Reset Road, Graciela's struggle with alcohol became very real, thwarting her success with the making of the album and threatening her career as an emerging artist. She snapped out of her alcoholic dependent soon after a near tragedy in 2019, put her "stomping boot" on and got to work! In 2020, Graciela started her own production company, G$ productions, designed her merchandise line and was the producer, editor, and recording artist on many of her music videos; I'll Just Go Away, Earthquake, and Killer in His Eyes. Then she got to work on writing several new songs for her new album, "Fighting with Me and You."
